BrandofHERO
Brand
of HERO (BOH) is
an alternative/hard rock band out of Orange County, Calif. BOH's music
is an original repertoire of sophisticated alternative rock songs with
a modern energy of hard rock. Their music style is a mix of influences
from rock, grunge, blues, alternative, and modern rock with a message
like Skillet, Switchfoot, P.O.D. and Life House. Fans say BOH reminds
them of bands like Collective Soul, Smashing Pumpkins and Life House
to Stone Temple Pilots and Oasis. BOH was originally formed in 1996
as "Bridge of Hope", but changed their name in 2004 to Brand of Hero.
BOH
has independently released and marketed two EP/CDs, RIPPLEaffect
(2004) and Impacto (2008).. BOH is in the midst of recording their full
CD, which they are hoping to release sometime in early 2018. However,
at the request of fans and industry, they will be pre-releasing the
EP/CD, On this Side of the Ocean in June 2017 to represent a taste of
what's to come on their upcoming full CD release.
Winning
the '04 Orange County Music Awards Best Hard Rock category for their
song RIPPLEaffect, on their self titled EP/CD has allowed the band more
opportunities.. But even with this opportunity their vision has stayed
the same - communicating a message of Love, Mercy, and Grace in a different
tone, through their own form of hard rock music. Band founder, singer-songwriter
and guitar player, Art Anthony, believes the purpose of the band "is
not about fame, popularity, or money . . . it's about getting an optimistic
message across to others through the music and the lyrics we present,
in this day and age", Art said, as well as doing music that a wide audience
would love and enjoy. The most important thing Art wants to do is to
do what he loves most and that is playing and singing in an alternative-rock
band that would share his faith to a broader audience. "We believe we're
a rock band, with the gift of music, to make a difference in both main-stream
and Christian arenas alike," he continued...
The
band is comprised of
Art
Anthony (songwriter, rhythm guitars, lead vocals), who happens to be
the founder of the band, returning lead guitar, Matt Rizzo, drummer,
Chris Mohney (Monz) and bassist, Jenny Torres.. The band members come
from different musical influences and backgrounds, yet have bonded to
together as a collective band. The band members consider themselves
to be a "rock band" with a positive message of their faith. Their music
range is phenomenal along with their talent to perform on stage. The
band has played at The House of Blues, The Coach House, The Viper Room,
The Knitting Factory, The Whisky a Go Go, Federal Bar and Galaxy Theatre
opening for such bands as The Kry, Kevin Martin and the Hiwatts (Voice
of Candlebox), LA Guns, The Romantics, to doing ministry benefit concerts
at local churches opening for Jeremy Camp, or an indie band like Pound
Foolish to playing festivals like Portico (TomFest) and sharing stages
with Emery, Showbread, Rock & Roll Worship Circus, Joy Electric and
others. The band crosses all types of stereotype barriers to create
what they feel is their own form of cross-over rock, alternative rock
and hard rock. Other recognized national acts BOH has opened for includes:
Dramarama, Winger, FogHat, Joe Lynn Turner (from Rainbow and Deep Purple),
The BulletBoys, Vanilla Fudge, Colin Hay (from Men at Work), Michael
Sweet (from Stryper), Tommy TuTone, along with well known local artist,
such as Union of Saints, Plumbline, Pax217, East West, Mudbath, Nevada
Sky, Silent Noise, Apulse, Scarlet Crush, Makeshift 3 and others.
As mentioned
earlier, BOH is in the midst of working
on new material for their full-fledge CD, which will be released sometime
in 2018. They are working hard to get it done. The band is looking to
make this album its best 12 songs. Currently, BOH is in the process
of pre-releasing five of the songs, along with beautiful poem, a rendition
of "A Christian's child's prayer" on the EP/CD On this
Side of the Ocean June 27, 2017. The five songs will be: Souls,
My Lament, Palms Over, Simple Song and A Moment with the
poem A Child's Sincere Prayer, featuring Bella Bryson. On
this Side of the Ocean will be available on many E-Stores, in late
June and some Independent CD Stores. For more information you can visit
BOH's webpage E-Stores. . .
BOH
has been getting some interest, via Internet play and radio, such as
OCRockRadio.com, ZFM (Australia), iSPINIT radio (Rock 001), PODONOVER,
INTROradio, and other stations. "This next album will be more along
the lines of Audioslave meets Queens of Stonehenge meets Nirvana, that's
if you want to compare," said Art... Although BOH gets inspiration from
other bands, they want to have a unique sound all their own. "BOH's
next album project, On this Side of the Ocean, is sure to make a big
impact because we will put our souls and hearts into each song and on
the line for this one . . . We can't wait for it to be completely done",
continued Art.
In the
EP/CD RIPPLEaffect, two of the songs,
RIPPLEaffect and Carry, were independently released in June 2003, along
with a hidden track GIVER, as the CD single RIPPLEaffect for radio play.
The song RIPPLEaffect received great reviews from friends and fans and
was selected to be on a couple of compilation CDs the previous year,
which included Musician Institute's (MI) 2004 compilation CD (Hollywood).
In addition, BOH won the '04 Orange County Music Awards 'Best Hard Rock'
category for their song RIPPLEaffect. Also, BOH attained radio play
on 95.9 FM, The FISH, on the Fresh Fish Friday program with the song,
GIVER (Project N EP), which received some good reviews. The RIPPLEaffect
and Project N CDs are available on several Internet E-stores. If you
want to know more about Internet radio play visit www.brandofhero.com.
While BOH's
purpose is to communicate a positive message of their faith, they want
to maintain a rock solid alternative-hard rock sound, that is both distinctly
soul searching and straightforward.. You can listen to the pre-release
On this Side of the Ocean at www.reverbnation.com/brandofhero.
