christian (cj) Drums . . .

Christian John-Mykael Healey (aka CJ), grew up in a town familiar to rock stars, like No Doubt, Christina Ballestero (Kali Girls), Carlos Cavazo (Quiet Riot), Jim Fielder (Blood, Sweat, and Tears), Agent Orange and others. . . Christian is basically a prodigy in his own right, although he is shy about it. Christian became a lover of drumming, guitar and all things music for the most part. While being home schooled by his parents in Anaheim he began to play drums for his dad's rock and roll and blues band he had going with his friends at a young age. There he began his voyage and rite of passage to becoming an amazing drummer.

While Christian began drumming at the early age of 4 (now 17 going on 32), he remembers he got his first real drum set at age 9 and played to the tracks of Green Day, Chemical Romance, Avenge Seven Fold and the like. He was always drawn to modern rock music and wanted to experience it as much as he could, even if it meant playing to tracks. While trying several teen bands, all wanting to do dark metal, screamo, and punk, he felt he needed to move onto the types of bands that were more sophisticated and grown up. He felt his later bands lacked a sense of direction and truth. He wanted to do more than just the teenage scene, something with depth and real rock and influences and a sense of conviction. He says "I played (made a lot of noise) in my room and at parties with some friends from the neighborhood from time to time, but that didn't seem to make the grade for me". . . At age 15, he got his first paying gig (yahoo!) at a wedding for a family friend.

On the July 4, 2009 while playing drums with his dad's band at Freedom Coalition Fest at Irvine Lake, California, he met 'Brand of HERO', one of the other bands playing there at the festival that weekend. There he met Art Anthony lead signer for the band and the rest of the band. Christian liked what B.O.H. was presenting. He felt their music was awesome and tight. He said "It's was a blast to see them play". He later found out that the band was in the midst of looking for a new drummer since they would be losing their current one in the near future. In October of 2009, Christian spent 3 weeks with his family traipsing the land of his roots in Ireland trying to find out what he's was all about and what he stood for. It was a good trip and a lasting experience for him, but it left him with the question what he was going to do with music?

A few months passed, and B.O.H. gave Christian a shot to audition. Art Anthony really liked what he saw and heard. Art even went on to say, "Christian is probably the best drummer that we've ever had playing at the drummer position". "He is an amazing drummer and to just pass him up because he was a young drummer would be completely nuts". Art goes on to say, "as soon as I heard his playing abilities and his flexibility to play different styles of music at such a young age, I felt it was a no-brainer to get him on our team. . . I was hooked". So one could say the rest is history. Christian is now a full fledge member of the band and the most amazing drummer!

SIDE NOTES . . . Christian is a shy reserved kind of guy . . . yet he is inquisitive and has a thirst for knowledge and truth and he likes to discuss pressing issues that are close to his heart. Besides being in B.O.H. he likes the Beach, Camping and Swimming.
