Bassist/Vocals . . .
Jeremy
grew up with his sister and parents in Yorba Linda, often drawing cartoon
characters that he would create. It wasn't until the age of 16 when
he decided to pick up bass, practicing on and off, then after he graduated
from high school, he soon joined a band called 'Hunting Season' (now
called dark phunk). Because of creative differences or simple felt the
chemistry wasn't flowing as he hoped, he left the band. He took a brief
sabbatical after that and never really joined another band. He kept
jamming with other bands or groups, in order to keep his love for playing
bass going, but he felt the sessions left him with the sense that they
weren't ever going anywhere.
In
December of 2008, he gave the song 'Vaseline' by STP a try on a game
known as 'Rock Band', who figured? While he was singing his sister came
into the room with a shocked expression on her face . . . apparently
he could sing and very good at that. He posted some want ads on Craig's
list but never got any hits. While trying out some piece-meal bands
in August of 2009, through an old friend looking for a bassist, he was
ecstatic to get going again playing bass and now signing was to be in
order. The no named group, with a flakey guitarist and no drummer didn't
last much longer than a month or so, yet he felt the experience began
to build his vocal chords. He didn't give up and kept on practicing
and recording to improve on his new found skill. During that time he
began to post his recordings of him on his bass and singing on Craig's
list and Myspace hoping to find a band interested. He received some
interest, auditioned for bands and even joined some bands but they all
seem not to work.
Until
then, all seemed hazy at best, however one E-mail received from a guy
from a band called 'Brand of HERO', invited Jeremy to give them a try.
. . Art Anthony (guitarist and lead vocals) with the band seemed interested
and was looking for a bass player that could sing well. He wasn't looking
for the best bass ever, just looking for a good one who could keep the
beat going and could work as a team member with the band. Art was interested
to see if Jeremy was willing to give the band a try, since bassist these
days were hard to come by. . . At first Jeremy was hesitant because
he knew his bass playing skills weren't the best in the world, but Art
was persistent and Jeremy decided to give it a shot. While having grueling
practices with Art and recently added drummer Christian Healy (C.J.),
Jeremy felt that this band was a match. He like the music and the direction
the band was going, not to mention the experiences that band had gained
over the years, along with the challenge of doing good music. It looked
like a fit and he knew he would grow with the band, pushing him to better
his skills as a bass player and singer. Art and Christian felt Jeremy
would work; as well, so Jeremy joined the band in December of 2009.
While Jeremy is slightly limited in technical abilities for bass and
singing, he makes up in passion for music and hard work. He will make
a good team player and an asset for the band.
SIDE
NOTES... Jeremy loves to make people smile. He always has a joke to
say and loves to make people smile. Once he heard a man say 'There is
no such thing as normal. . . That's the setting on a washing machine.'
Jeremy took that to heart and made it words that he lives by. He loves
to strike conversations with random people and makes it his duty to
make a person laugh. He always has something to say and has a far from
'normal' look on life. He also has an unhealthy obsession with penguins.
Just joking . . .? Jeremy has an online comic series called 'I Love
to Boogie.' It has helped him develop his sense of humor and he hopes
it'll make other people smile in an offbeat nonsensical way.
